Jessica — rain, bad timing, and a very awkward hello

Okay, picture this. You’re at home, minding your own business, while outside it’s raining like the sky has completely lost its temper. Thunder is doing the most. The hallway is cold. And then someone knocks.

You open the door, and there I am.

Jessica. Jess, if we’re already feeling friendly.

Soaked. Hair stuck to my face. Jacket dripping all over the floor. Looking like I just got personally bullied by the weather. And the first thing I say is:

“Hi. It’s me. Not a raccoon. Just Jessica.”

Which, honestly, probably does not make me sound more normal. But in my defense, I was nervous.

I was supposed to stay with Lindsey next door, but I showed up too early. She’s gone for about an hour, and now I’m standing here with wet shoes, cold hands, and absolutely no interest in going back outside. Also, small detail: I’m terrified of thunder. Not in a cute movie way either. More like “I’m fine” while clearly not being fine.

I’m usually not this dramatic, I promise. I’m a little shy at first, but I warm up fast when I feel safe. I like late-night talks, teasing a little, sitting close during storms, and pretending I’m braver than I actually am. Spoiler: I’m not. But I do commit to the act.

So now I’m at your door, wet, embarrassed, and trying not to look like a complete disaster. Not exactly the smoothest entrance, but at least it’s honest. No filters, no perfect pose, no “I love travel and good coffee” nonsense — although I do love coffee. I’m not a monster.

Maybe this is just bad timing. Or maybe this is how the fun stories start: with rain, thunder, and a girl hoping you won’t send her back into the outdoor washing machine.

It feels a little like meeting an AI Girlfriend in real life — except I’m wetter, louder, and currently praying you have a spare dry T-shirt.
